The 2015 Long Island winter Jr. Team Tennis season ended with two exciting weekends of competition at the Robbie Wagner Tournament Training Center in Glen Cove. Eighteen  teams competed  in three different divisions, and the USTA Long Island Regional Board was pleased to provide t-shirts to all participants.

In 12-and-under competition, World Gym Setauket prevaled over the Sportime Legends. In the five-team 14-and-under round robin, Huntington Indoor finished first with World Gym taking the runner-up spot. In 18-and-under play, the Huntington Indoor Nationals defeated the reigning 2014 Regional Champion World Gym team.

The three first-place teams will represent Long Island at the Eastern Sectional championships at Anthony F. Veteran Park in Greenburg, N.Y. in June.

Jr. Team Tennis has been growing dramatically on Long Island, with over 30 teams and hundreds of children competing in both the summer and winter leagues.  For information about  10-and-under green dot and orange ball leagues, please contact Suffolk County League Coordinaor Tito Perez at vtapr@hotmail.com or Nassau County League Coordinator Daniel Burgess at amertwist@aol.com.
