Boys High School Champs Spring 2018

In an action-packed boys’ high school tennis season, Syosset, under the direction of Coach Shai Fisher, won its fourth straight Nassau County championship, defeating Roslyn 7-0 at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow. See Long Island Tennis Magazine’s story here.

In Nassau County singles play, Oyster Bay’s Patrick Maloney won the championship, while Matthew Cashin of Cold Spring Harbor was runner up. Gabriel Brancatelli of Port Washington won third place and Wheatley’s Michael Medvedev won fourth. Maloney, Cashin and Brancatelli will represent Nassau County at the NY State High School Championships at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing from May 31-June 2.

Syosset’s Eli Grossman & Preet Rajpal won the doubles championship. Runners-up were Alexander Roti & Samir Singh of Friends Academy while third place was won by Justin Oresky & Zach Chan of Syosset and fourth place by Plainview’s Nicholas DeChiaro & Josh Cohen. The first three doubles teams will compete at States.

In Suffolk County, the Singles Champion was Jack Flores of Huntington, who defeated Abhinav Srivastava, of Half Hollow Hills East in the final. The finalists will be joined at States by Hills West's Cameron Klepper who finished 3rd. For Newsday's coverage, click here.
