LI Girls Succeed at State Championships

 

 

Congratulations to Long Island’s girls tennis team members on their achievements at the New York State Girls High School Tennis Championships in Albany, N.Y. held during the first weekend in November. The USTA Long Island Region was proud to present team sweatshirts to all participants.

 

This year, 18 girls (six singles and 12 doubles) represented Nassau and Suffolk counties. Long Island achievements included:

 

Singles – Main Draw

Aimee Manfredo (Shoreham-Wading River HS) -- Semifinalist

Taylor Cosme (Manhasset HS) – Quarterfinalist

 

Doubles – Main Draw

Ally Linder & Liz Kallenberg – (Port Washington HS) – Quarterfinalist

Katie Cirella & Rhea Malhotra – (Syosset HS) – Quarterfinalist

 

Singles – Consolation Tournament

First place - Nicole Koskovolis (Manhasset HS)

 

Additional high school achievements during the fall season include:

Sportsmanship Award – Section VIII

Brittany Burke (Garden City HS)

 

Long Island Tennis Magazine Nassau County Girl’s Coach of the Year

Michael Guidone (Locust Valley HS)
