LI Region and Carefree Host CPR/AED Training

September 16, 2015 01:31 PM

The USTA Long Island Region and Carefree Racquet Club in Merrick recently hosted USTA League players, tennis pros and club staff for a CPR and AED training session at the club.

Lori Jenis, a Nassau County CPR trainer, provided hands-on instruction in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of the Automated External Defibrillator to save lives. According to USTA League Player Deborah Cichon, who attended the class, “I ... found it extremely informative. I am a league player and wanted to have the knowledge of CPR, just in case I was playing and needed to help someone who was in cardiac arrest.”

Says Daniel Burgess, USTA LI Region President, "Having pros and other staff members available who are certified to do CPR and know how to use an AED can save lives. The LI Region can help tennis facilities and member organizations to coordinate CPR/AED training programs. Just email ustaonlongisland@gmail.com with the name of your organization, your email address, the number of people you want to train and a selection of dates, and we will work with you to set up a training class."
