Suffolk County Girls High School Champions

The following girls will represent Suffolk County at the NY State Championships. Good luck to them!

Singles:

Aimee Manfredo
Aimee Manfredo, a senior at Shoreham Wading River High School has been a member of the varsity tennis team since the seventh grade. Aimee is a team captain who has won three consecutive Division IV singles championships. As a junior Aimee was a county finalist and this year as a senior Aimee won the Suffolk County Singles Championship. Heading into the State tournament Aimee has an overall record of 86-19. Aimee is active in USTA Tournaments year round. Next year Aimee will be attending Bradley University on an athletic scholarship where she will study actuary business and play tennis for the Bradley Braves. Aimee is looking forward to representing her school and Section XI in the New York State Tennis Tournament.

Jackie Bukzin
Jackie Bukzin is an eighth grader at Eastport South Manor Jr./Sr. High School. Last year Jackie earned fourth place in the county tournament falling just short of making the state tournament. This year she was more motivated than ever to make the trip upstate. For the second year in a row Jackie has received All-Division, All-County, and All-State status. Both years in seventh and eighth grade Jackie has remained at first singles. Throughout the year Jackie competes in USTA sectional tournaments as well as competing in Zonals, a national team tournament in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She is the only student to ever get All- State status in the history of ESM. Jackie looks forward to representing her school and Suffolk County in the New York State tournament.

Ester Chikvashvili
Ester Chikvashvili is a sophomore at Half Hollow Hills High School East, where she has been playing first court singles. This is Ester's first year on the varsity tennis team and she has received All-League, All-County, and All-State honors as a singles player. Ester is a strong academic student who competes in USTA tournaments year round. In her first trip to the states, Ester looks forward to representing her school and Suffolk County in the New York State tournament.

Vanessa Scott/Allison Huber

Half Hollow Hills East doubles partners Allison Huber and Vanessa Scott proudly represent Suffolk County at the NYSPHSAA Tournament as County Doubles Champions. Huber, a senior at East, returns for her third consecutive year at the tournament, winning her second county title. Scott, making her first trip to the state tournament, has previously been All-League and All-Division for singles. Alli is captain and has been on varsity for four years, and Vanessa has been on varsity since 8th grade. Both have contributed significantly in both singles and doubles to their team’s Suffolk County Team Championship in both 2011 and 2012. This year, the two are undefeated in both singles and doubles during their regular season and frequently participate in USTA tournaments during the off-season. Alli and Vanessa are thrilled to compete at the tournament and plan to continue playing tennis in the future.

Kelci Henn/Lisa Lin

William Floyd High School doubles partners, Kelci Henn and Lisa Lin are proud to represent Suffolk County in their first NYSPHSAA Tournament. Kelci, a junior at William Floyd, has been a member of the varsity tennis team since her freshman year and has consistently played doubles, receiving All-Division, All-County and now, All-State honors. This year she was chosen as team captain and, with Lisa, has contributed greatly to the team’s success in the League Championships in both 2012 and 2013. Lisa, a freshman at William Floyd has been a participant on the varsity team since 8th grade and has received All-County and All-State awards as well. This season was the second year the girls have played together and the first year they were titled as the Conference Champions in Division IV. Kelci and Lisa look forward to representing their school as the first doubles team from William Floyd to make it to the State tournament.

Danah Han/Lauren Salzano

Half Hollow Hills High School West doubles partners Danah Han and Lauren Salzano are proud to represent Suffolk County in the NYSPHSSA Tournament. Danah, a sophomore, and Lauren, a senior, are co-captains of their team and this is their first season playing doubles together. When not playing doubles, Lauren has played 1st singles and Danah has played 2nd singles during the season. Danah has been on the Varsity Tennis team since 7th grade and an All-Division player in the past. Lauren has been on the Varsity Tennis team since 9th grade when she transferred to Half Hollow Hills High School West and has been an All-League player in the past. Lauren will play college tennis in the fall. Both players are extremely excited to compete at the State tournament.
