USPTA Eastern Section Pro-Am Fundraiser

The USPTA Eastern recently held A fundraising Pro-Am  at  Sportime  Kings Park.  Eight USPTA pros and eight amateurs teamed up for an exciting doubles  round robin to raise money for the USPTA's Eastern Division’s programs.
"It's four hours of doubles tennis for a good cause," said event coordinator and USPTA pro, Russell Heier. "It's also a networking and educational event for both our local pros and amateurs."

Andrew Chan (Pro) and Alon Benvesisti (Amateur) were the overall winners. Second place went to Russell Heier (Pro) and Ed Weiss (Amateur). Joe Roediger, president of the USPTA Eastern Division, said the event was great for social networking. "Each pro teamed up with an amateur and they played seven rounds of good, competitive doubles. It was a great way for the players to meet up and get to know one another and maybe learn some new things," he said.

Jason Wass, director of tennis at Sportime Kings Park, said, "I thought everything went well, and it was a really good event. Everyone had a good time, which is most important. It is always nice to host high-level competition, and we look forward to more evenings such as this."

As an added benefit to those involved, each of the amateur players got a free membership to the USTA, courtesy of the USPTA.
