USTA LI Region Hosts Kids Days In Nassau and Suffolk

July 24, 2015 11:44 AM

The USTA Long Island Region hosted several hundred children at two Kids Day events, one in Nassau County and one in Suffolk County, this summer.

The LI Region, along with the Inwood Country Club and Inwood Charities Fund, Inc., hosted Nassau Kids’ Day at the Inwood Country Club, while Suffolk Kids Day, was co-hosted by and took place at World Gym Setauket.

Children enjoyed these free days of tennis learning, games, contests, food and fun. Coordinated by local tennis pros and other volunteers, the events provided a fun introduction to tennis for newcomers to the sport, who learned the basics of USTA 10-and-under tennis. Those with more experience played matches with their peers.

In addition to many individuals/families who came out to enjoy tennis and lunch, the following groups: Lawrence Woodmere Academy, JCC of the Five Towns, Alliance Junior Tennis Camp (Roosevelt), AMC Child Care (Roosevelt), Daniel Burgess Tennis Academy Summer Camp (Freeport), Hicksville Community Tennis Association, Sportime Lynbrook, Three Village Tennis and Central Islip Tennis.   Assemblyman Todd Kaminsky (Long Beach) joined the fun at Nassau Kids Day.

Special thanks to the USTA Eastern Section for their participation as well as to Long Island Tennis Magazine for coming out to support both Kids Days and take photos in Nassau and Suffolk.
