Tennis in the Parks: July 27th

KIDS LOVE TENNIS IN THE PARKS: US Tennis Association and Nassau Parks Sponsor 4th Annual Day of Free Tennis Instruction for Children
The U.S. Tennis Association Eastern Long Island Region and the Nassau County Department of Parks, Recreation & Museums invite children ages 10 and under from across Nassau County for a free day of tennis lessons and fun on Wednesday, July 27th, 2011.
The fourth annual QUICKSTART TENNIS IN THE PARKS DAY runs from 10am-1pm at eight county parks: Eisenhower, Cantiague, Wantagh, Centennial, Cow Meadow, Christopher Morley, Nickerson Beach and North Woodmere, where a special-needs instructional group will convene at noon. Participants will learn to play tennis the “Quick Start” way, which is the U.S. Tennis Association’s program specially designed for children under age 10: racquets are smaller, balls are lighter and tennis courts are shorter.
Last year more than 1,000 children participated in the event. Tennis pros from clubs and parks across the county will be volunteering their time and supplying equipment to make the day a success. Pros and tennis enthusiasts who want to help out on Wednesday or who have equipment to contribute can contact Bill Mecca at mecca@eastern.usta.com.
